Community Members,
The draft OCP was posted recently and, to date, the CVRD has received several concerns with respect to Section 5.4 "Hazard Lands". There is concern that this section of the plan and associated mapping pre-designates land as hazardous. In fact, it does not. However, understandably, the language and mapping needs to be sensitive and the intent of the policies must be clear.

OCP UPDATE: Feb 16, 2011
A community meeting was held last night at Bench School to discuss a proposed VORR (vessel operation restriction regulation) and navigation channel for Cowichan Bay. The VORR would restrict boating activity (motor boats and anchoring) in areas identified as eelgrass habitat; the marked navigation channel is intended to provide safe, unobstructed access to marinas and the boat launch in Cowichan Bay.
